Fall Internship

One week ago, my class went to Majapahit Agro Lestari Hotel, Mojokerto. We had some internship about plant's taxonomy there. We collected morphology and property data from every plants and looking for some type of plants that would be needed for our next practicum. I had talk a bit about Majapahit Agro Lestari (MAL) on my last post "Journey to Cangar". On that post I have little discussed about this place and take some photo of me (who cares, no one want to know about it, haha).

MAL is a natural hotel which located on Mojokerto highland. Thousands of plant species, Cold and cool air, hum of the insects, the smell of the forest litter, acres of pinery, ledge type of waterfall, bla bla bla~ such a beautiful sight and wonderful thing~ You couldn't find any single thing above in Surabaya. MAL use concept of artificial forest inside, and natural forest outside the building. Like another hotel, it must be have various facility such as swimming pool, gym, outbound, rafting, family gathering spot, etc. For the rooms, they use concept of natural village house in deep country, so there was many of ‘true’ farmer who had worked around the hotel, just like the real deep country.

I have many activities there, made a monograph, plants identification, calculated the population density, had a lunch, studied about TOGA plants, took some photos, etc. Actually, depend on the schedule, actually we back to Surabaya at 18.00. The fact we back to surabaya on the evening (around 16.00). For some reason, We had to come back early. But I feel so happy, that was a different experience for me to study at the ‘real place’  for the scientist, especially for biologist. (since it was my first internship).

How about yours? Did you have any internship yet, fellas?
Thank you for reading my article, see yaa next time x)

Journey to Cangar

First of all, I just want to say that I feel so Sorry if I haven't post any articles on this month. Then I ' ll tell you about the why I couldn’t post any articles this month. Actually I have so many activites and project so that I can't post an article daily. Four days earlier, I have difficult day, a day with full of lecture activity, organization committe meeting, facilitator meeting, department's event, strategic studies and advocacy, bla blaa blaaa blaaaa, etc. and truthfully, that's makes me feel so booored.

Sometimes, I think that it would be better if I take some rest. Something that more exciting than study on campus or just stay at home and keep in touch with my laptop. Maybe move away from here for a while will be the greatest idea. So, three days ago (Friday), my friends suggest me to take a trip to another city. They give me two options. First option, they suggest me to go to Taman Lawang (we can called it a dead city just like a Bone County in Grand Theft Auto) or the second option is Cangar, Mojokerto. It was a wide city where a wide range of animals and insects live in, just like San Isabel National Forest in Colorado, USA. On Saturday, We have decided to 'Move Out' from here, and we pick the second option, a forest  trip to Cangar.

On Sunday 06.00 AM, I have well prepared to go to Cangar with eight of my friends, Rizal, Umar, Daniar, Rizki, Novi, Rizka, Irma, and Anisa. We used 5 motorcycle, each motorcycle consist of two persons except Daniar’s. Actually he was with Maharah, but because of some reasons, she couldn’t participate. 07.00 we regroup our contingent in the gas station to refuel and then started our journey.

We stopped several times on the way to Cangar, we stopped once in Malang to have some breakfast, twice in Batu to refuel our tank and because of Rizki and Rizka falling down from their motorcycle and we stopped once in Selecta to have Dhuhur pray at the Jami’ Baiturrahman mosque. I tell you about a little story when I was at the mosque, Jami’ Baiturrahman was not so great, it had medium size for a mosque. But that mosque had everything inside and trust me, the carpet smelling so good #haha.

After a hour, on 13.20 we've got safely at Cangar, precisely in the Tahura Park. In that place we explore the forest to searched for fern specimen, take some photos, and stay for a while to have a lunch. After we found what we wants, we head back to Surabaya on 15.15. But before we head back to Surabaya, we stopped at the Mojosari Agro Lestari hotel to survey for internship that will be held next month.

Deep in the forest

I have so much laughter yesterday and I feel so happy. Moreover, When I realize that the next day (today) is a holiday too, I feel more excited. Thus, I have 4 days of from my daily activity on my campus. What a miracle, it was a long holiday in the middle of the busy month. It seems that the Harvest Goddess on Harvest Moon game blessing me this week.

Taking some photos on the huge stone

This photo was taken at Mojosari / Majapahit Agro Lestari
That was my day, How about yours? Thank you for your visit, sorry for my bad english. Criticisms and suggestions allowed but please don’t type “R.I.P English”.Cause I have realize if my english was so bad. Hahaha..
After all, Thank you and see you next time xD

I've Got Two Rewards in PP LKMM !!

With my friends from chemistry department

3 Weeks ago I have some training program called PP LKMM. Which it was the one of five training program in my campus. My campus, ITS have 5 training progams which conducted sequentially and all of them have related. They are LKMM Pra-TD, LKMM TD, PP LKMM, LKMM TM and LKMM TL. Each training program have a difficult selection and If I don't pass the first training program then I would not be able to continue to the next training program. For the example, if I don't pass LKMM Pra-TD then I couldn't participate LKMM TD. I have to wait until the next year to participate the same training programs.

Training program which I have attended a few weeks ago is PP LKMM or just called it PP. It have 3 levels of selection. They are administration selection, writing test selection and interview selection. Luckily, I have passed all of the selection and can participated that training program. I feel lucky because of many of my competitors are an extraordinary person. Actually, PP is a training program which used to create a training guide (trainer). So many people who wanted to be a trainer, but the quote is limited. My faculty just choose 33 of the hundreds of existing registries.

During the 3 days of training, I met with incredible persons and all of them are very active in the discussion. First time I was in discussion session, I feel awkward cause I think that all of them (another participant) seemed full preparation for this training. But eventually, I could adapting with them (perhaps because I'm a hyperactive person #hoho).

That's me in the one of LKMM's interview

I’m a strange person, or just use ‘unique’ word to look more polite #haha. Cause I could change my personality whenever I want. When I felt that I have adapted with peoples around me. I have another target beside to pass this training program, I want to give all what I have, increase my effort, and running out all of my energy. Even many of my competitors was an extraordinary person, multilanguage person, smart person or something like that #hahaha. Who cares? I just have to do my best, right? I don't have to be the winner, but I have to do everything correctly and perfectly. I consider to being the second but I don’t want to being the wrong.

On the last day of the training, I succeded gain 2 of 3 existing reward. As the most excited participant and the most active participant (there are double winner for this category, Me and my friend from physic department, Betabayu Santika). Another reward was gained by Almira as the most good-looking participant. That’s not bad, and I’m proud of my struggle during 3 days in PP LKMM. Oh I almost forgot, I have streak my own record, as the most active participant during 2 years training period in my faculty and my department (in LKMM Pra-TD, LKMM TD, and PP LKMM).

Tomorrow's Course (Probably)

Monday~ Monday~ Welcome back to Monday !!! Say hello to Mr. Monday~

Yesterday I had a graduate party in my department, maybe I'll post about it later. But first I 'll post about my prediction (#ngeh). Yes, like just I said before and it also written in the tittle. Tonight I 'll post about tomorrow's course. Tomorrow I will have 'animal's development' course. So lets get start !

Embryology was the formal term that used to explain a progressive development in organism. That term have different meaning in each animal classes. For the example, amphibian used that term from the fertilization until it has metamorphosed. Another example, Aves use the term until the eggs hatched (since Aves won't metamorphosed).

Basically there is two of old scientist's arguments about embryology.

Karl Ernst von Baer's Law
"Very simple but little difficult to be memorized"
  1. General characteristics of the group to which an embryo belongs develop before special characteristics.
  2. General structural relations are likewise formed before the most specific appear.
  3. The form of any given embryo does not converge upon other definite forms but, on the contrary, separates itself from them.
  4. Fundamentally, the embryo of a higher animal form never resembles the adult of another animal form, such as one less evolved, but only its embryo.

Cell Lineage Mechanism
Pangenesis (Darwin)
Genetic material named 'Gemulla' formed by somatic cell which transmigrated into gammete cell (generative part of human cell).

Germplasm(Weissmann)
Germplasms is a collection of genetic resources (genetical unit) for an organism. Somatic cell are the result of differentiation process from gamete cells.

Period of embryonic development

1. Preparation stage
gamete cell's development in the gonads

2. Fertilization stage
fusion of male gamete cell (sperm) and female gamete cell (ovum)

3. Cementation stage
Division of the cell without significant growth, producing a cluster of cells that is the same size as the original zygote, is called cleavage. At least four initial cell divisions occur, resulting in a dense ball of at least sixteen cells called the morula. The different cells derived from cleavage, up to the blastula stage, are called blastomeres. The cleavage can be total (holoblastic) or partial (meroblastic) depending on the amount of yolk.

4. Cell shell formation

Ectoderm - Nervous system, skin, organ on the entire surface of the skin, etc
Mesoderm - Bone, Muscle, Blood, Blood vessel, gamete cell, etc
Endoderm - Digestive cell, respiratory cell, lung, etc

5.  Organogenesis
Each cell shell will a complex system that consist of cells with similar characteristic

6. Growth and Differentiation
Cell will growth and differentiate by it function.
