Changdeokgung Palace

Besides visit AKC and Gwanghwamun, on Tuesday we also go to Changdeokgung palace. Changdeokgung palace is one of world heritage site in Seoul which approved and protected by UNESCO since 1997. Changdeokgung palace located 500 m to the east side from Gwanghwamun. It’s the one from five Joseon royal palaces in Seoul. Known as its beautiful scenery and its various cherry blossoms, make this place referred as grand palaces.

Behind Changdeokgung is secret garden named Huwon. The secret garden was originally constructed for the palace women and royal family. It has 28 pavilions and over 26000 trees which lived for over 300 years. Different with another place that we ve visit before, in Changdeokgung we cost 3000 won for each visitor and we have an additional charge 5000 won if we want to enter the secret garden.

Luckily we come to the palace in spring, so we can see there are so many foliages over the tree. Inside Changdeokgung there are so many small buildings which made from wood. The construction design is customized to produce natural heat. The heat flows vertically from underground stove under the building.

Changdeokgung palace is a perfect palace to visit if you have limited time. Entry price includes a tour at set times for various languages. Well worth it. If you can spare the 1.5 hrs for a Secret Garden tour, the other tourists say this is well worth it. Well maintained and lovely grounds with a rich Korean history. Well, it's my review about this palace.

tribute to all of my classmates
